Two charged in murder of Croydon woman

Detectives investigating the discovery of human remains in a park in Croydon have charged Gemma Saundercock (22.07.75) of Holmbury Grove, Croydon, and Steve Samson (10.05.1979) of Burnell Road, Sutton with murder and the prevention of lawful burial. The arrests were made on Saturday, 6 April, with both individuals set to appear in Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 9 April. Samson faces additional charges of making indecent images of a child. The family of the victim, 38-year-old Sarah Mayhew, has been informed, and police are providing support during this difficult time. Chief Superintendent Andy Brittain expressed gratitude for the investigative team’s efforts and the community’s support. The investigation commenced on Tuesday, 2 April, following a report of human remains found in Rowdown Fields, Croydon.
